Coming Soon

Its been a LONG time since my last post and things have been going well down here in Yelm.

The purpose of this post is to notify you that coming next week will be a brand new feature on the northslope blog…we’ve found our new direction and its exciting, entertaining, original, personal & hopefully thoughtful.

Keep your eye open next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Photoblog Friday-ish: 9-9-2005

Well, what do you know josh… is late with his blog posting again! Well, it’s because life in the lower 48 is so much faster paced and busy than were used to!! It is pretty crazy to have spent a week and a half here in the Seattle area and feeling like I’ve shifted back into a pre-alaska lifestyle.

We made it to the Puyallup fair! Above is a great picture of some of the wonderful livestock at the state fair, just in-between Seattle & Tacoma.

I dropped Lydia off at the airport yesterday and she is back in Nome for the next three weeks, and I start work on Thursday. I’ll try and pick up the posting soon…. however I have not yet decided the new direction that the northslope blog will probably take. I don’t think you really want to read about how I drove from Yelm to Seattle, or how I sat in my office all day Thursday… Lets face it, life in Washington is a little less compelling that a one year mission trip in Alaska.

Photoblog Friday-ish: 09-02-2005

Well, we made it home!

We stopped by camp for a few hours on saturday afternoon just to say hi and see how Labor Day family camp was going…..and we drove there in our new truck that we bought on friday (screamin’ deal!). This will make moving for the next few weeks much easier and is a requirement to live in Yelm (pretty much everyone in town has a truck). Its all going to be relaxing for the next few days until Lydia heads back up north until Oct. 1st…. I start work on the 15th of September.

We’re Home!!

Well….we made it home! Hellloooooooo Kent!

We left Nome around 9:30pm wednesday night, flew to anchorage and then caught a 12:30am flight to Seattle. We got in at 5:00am Thursday morning! We had standby tickets the whole way home so it came down to the wire on wether or not we would make it on our desired flights, but everything worked out!

So, heres the interesting news:

Tuesday morning, Lydia got a call from her Supervisor at work asked that she consider coming back to work for another month. Apparently after Lydia’s last day on Friday, Monday morning another co-worker came in and gave 5 days notice. They started to do the math, and with one employee taking September off for his wedding, and two other working at training…that left just one person in the office….and the Manager was going to be gone for a week! Lydia said she would think about it, but didn’t really think it was going to happen…we were headed back home!

However, The more we thought about it though, the more it didn’t look that bad. If Lydia could go home for a week, and then be flown back up to Nome (by work), we could deal with three weeks apart (and Lydia could deal with three more weeks back in Nome). It would help our finances & job change transition, and it would also help keep things flowing smoothly at Lydia’s office. So, we’re doing it. Lydia has been given an apartment for the month and will fly back to Nome on Sept 7th, returning home (for good) on Oct. 1st.

Its going to be a busy week while Lydia is here…..but should be fun to be back!
